Experience the beauty of three different areas of France on this Walking Holiday in the Dordogne, Lot and Corrèze regions.
This hiking vacation tour starts in beautiful Collonges-la-Rouge and ends in the lovely hilltop town of Gourdon. The Dordogne, Lot and Corrèze areas will enchant you with their culture, history, and abundant natural beauty.
Our walking holiday tours are mostly off the beaten track, giving you the chance to explore ancient towns, pretty villages and the unspoilt beauty of these three amazing French regions. Having walked the area many times ourselves, we believe we’ve planned a superb walking tour for you through varied landscapes - perfect for discovering on foot.
Our walking holidays offer a different view of France. Depending on the walking tour and its itinerary, you walk for 3 to 6 hours a day over distances varying from a minimum of 12kms up to a maximum of 25kms, across mainly gentle to moderate terrain. Some days may be a little more challenging than others, but you can walk at your own pace while your luggage is transported ahead for you.
The accommodation we book for you is chosen to suit all tastes - from delightful chambres d’hôtes (Bed & Breakfast), to superb deluxe hotels. You decide.
The length of your walking holiday tour is variable, and you are able to start a tour whenever you wish - it is neither fixed in advance nor dependent on a whole group starting together. Whichever tour you choose, you are guaranteed both freedom and flexibility.
All of our walking tours run from mid-March to mid-October but should you wish to book a walking holiday out of season, please contact us via the enquire now button and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
We are based in the centre of the Dordogne and Lot regions so we are always there in the locality to support you. We will explain everything thoroughly to you before you begin your tour, including which routes are recommended and places of interest to visit along the way. The walks have been planned meticulously and we want them to be everything you’ve hoped for... and more.
Although all our walking holiday tours are self-guided, we are always there if you need us. Should plans need to be changed at short notice due to a road closure, for example, we will let you know immediately. We are only a telephone call away.
What is a self-guided tour?
A self-guided tour is a fully co-ordinated holiday package for the independent traveler. We book all of your accommodation; move your luggage between the accommodation; give you detailed routes to follow. You decide with whom you want to travel and you travel at your own pace - there is no guide or group to speed you along or slow you down. Bliss!

These superb walking tours take place in the heart of the countryside of the wonderful Dordogne, Lot and Corrèze regions of France. The area is dominated by the magnificent Dordogne and Lot rivers and their stunning valleys. Simply put, it is an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Your tour begins at Collonges-la-Rouge, one of the most beautiful villages in France, and finishes in Gourdon, a market town built in tiers around a hill, where once a castle and ramparts stood. From the viewing platform at the top of the hill, there are fabulous views of the surrounding Bouriane.
You are sure to visit the beautiful town of Sarlat which is famous for its medieval architecture and has the highest concentration of medieval, renaissance and 17th-century façades in France. Every Saturday, its lively street market attracts both locals and tourists to the town.
As you start to explore the Dordogne valley, you will pass through one picturesque village after another. Many have ancient but well-preserved stone walls, and towns seem unchanged over many centuries with many still retaining their authentic atmospheres. From many towns, the views of the river valley are breathtaking. The Dordogne valley has an impressive concentration of châteaux and your tour will allow you enough the time to explore several along the way.
We are confident that the Dordogne, Lot and Corrèze regions will enchant you throughout your tour – and we’re certain that you’ll want to return here again and again!
The accommodation we book for you is chosen to suit all tastes – from delightful chambres d’hôtes (Bed & Breakfast), to superb deluxe hotels. Each accommodation is delightful and the staff and owners are friendly and attentive. At each place you stay the aim of the hoteliers is to make your stay as wonderful as possible.
All the hoteliers are known to us personally and each hotel has an excellent restaurant, highly respected within the local community for their exceptional cuisine. If you enjoy sampling a range of regional produce, we can plan your tour to coincide with as many bustling village markets as possible.
These Walking Tours are owned and run by an Anglo-French couple that have lived in the region since 1991 and have worked in the tour business since 1996. As well as knowing the area intimately, they guarantee you an attentive service from the moment you book your tour with them… to the moment you head home after an unforgettable holiday! In addition, as well as being excellent value for money, each tour is personalised to suit your own individual requirements – a major feature that few other tour companies can rival.
The region is one of the most beautiful in France, with marvelous surprises at every turn. The tours have been conceived to incorporate as many experiences of French lifestyle, culture, history and cuisine as possible.
“After our third walking tour with you we feel we know the area pretty well now! We will certainly continue to recommend your walks to relatives and friends. As we’ve mentioned before, apart from being in beautiful places, some of the strengths of walking with you are your familiarity with the area, your attention to detail including the walking notes, and having you close at hand if something goes amiss. Thank you.”
Jack & Andrea Holland, Chapman, ACT, Australia
“I just want to tell you that our ALL TOO BRIEF visit to the Dordogne could NOT have been better! The hotels were charming, the food was fine, and the suggested walks and town visits were, of course, also marvelous. One day I walked 12 miles, which may not sound like much, but when I consider that I could not walk around my block last February, I was pretty pleased! You outdid yourself in meeting our needs! Once again, thank you for making our trip so wonderful. Thanks, thanks!”
Audrey Holland, Arizona, USA
“I’m spreading your name far and wide, and I really cannot think of an aspect on your side of our experience that could be improved upon. Thanks again.”
