A Tutored Painting Course in Spain
Whether you are an experienced artist or just beginning your painting adventure, a tutored art painting course will give you the individual attention that you deserve. Your friendly tutor is fully experienced in teaching students of different levels in various media. She will teach you, in situ, at various locations just a short drive from the studio. Each location will be different and will include landscape or architectural views. These sessions last for approximately two hours per day and continue in the studio.
You don't have to paint on holiday every day! During the weeks stay we allocate one free day for you to do as you wish. Excursions to the surrounding area or to Valencia City can be arranged.
You will able to enjoy working in water colours, oils, acrylics, and there are opportunities to try screen printing, mono printing, etching etc.
Class sizes are deliberately kept small with usually only four students and occasionally to an absolute maximum of eight. This ensures that in-depth tuition and individual attention is always maintained with the result that no-one will feel left out, lost, out of their depth or struggling alone.
Anyone requiring extra tuition will find it easily and eagerly given.
The accommodation is very special indeed, being comfortable and airy, and the beautiful grounds of the villa have a commanding view over the town of Benigánim in the Comunidad Valencia. The pool is inviting, the food is excellent and everything is included so you may not need open your wallet for the entire week!

This small but vibrant town sits in the North East sector of the Valld’Albaida within the Communidad de Valencia.
Benigánim is surrounded by areas of great scenic interest. One example is La Solana, where they have located the remains of ancient settlements dating from the third millennium BC.
We are 60km from the city of Valencia, 74km from Alicante and 28km from the blue flag beaches of Gandía.
From the landscaped gardens of ‘Las Orquideas’ a view can be seen of the town from above. The octagonal tower of the 16th century church dominates the town center. The town itself is surrounded by agricultural land, predominately Orange and Olive groves with some Almonds, Peaches, Kakis and Vines.
During your stay you can be assured of meeting many interesting and extremely friendly residents of Benigánim, all of whom will help make this a wonderful, relaxing, rewarding and memorable holiday.
‘Las Orquideas’ is a colonial style, white villa that looks down on to Benigánim and across the valley to the mountain range of Benicadell, the sierra de Marriola and several towns in the Val D’Albaida.
The luxury accommodation comprises of two twin and two double bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. With a further double bedroom, bathroom and sitting area, in a separate annex. A lounge, television room, modern kitchen plus an outside summer kitchen, outside shower room, WC and laundry room with washing, drying and ironing facilities. There are also many outside dining areas.
Breakfasts, lunches and evening meals, with drinks, are all included within the cost of the course.
The well-planned and landscaped gardens offer many shaded and reflective places to sit and relax, or for the more athletic, include the chance to play tennis or petanque as well as the use of the swimming pool.
The villa is well situated for walking, hiking etc. particularly for any non-painting partners.
Although the courses all run from Monday to Friday the seven night’s accommodation can be from either Sunday pm to Sunday am or Saturday pm to Saturday am, whichever is most suitable for the student, and includes transfers from and to Valencia and Alicante airports.
Please note that there is a strict no smoking rule in the house and the studio.
Your painting tutor Dolores Alvaro – better known as Loli – was born in Madrid but lived in London for thirty-five years before returning to Spain.
She studied at Chelsea and the University of Surrey obtaining a BA with Honours. Subsequently she went on to study printing at the School of Arts in London.
She has had various exhibitions in England, Spain and France.
Dolores welcomes students, of all levels of ability from absolute beginner to the more advanced amateur or professional artist, to share her home and purpose built studio. The studio is located within the landscaped grounds of her beautifully renovated colonial-styled white hillside villa – ‘Las Orquideas’ – overlooking the delightful pueblo of Benigánim located in the Vall d’Albaida (Valencia, Spain).
